How To Stop Attracting Men That Are Jerks

Does it ever seem like you have an imaginary sign on you inviting jerks to introduce themselves to you? If you have bad luck with guys and meet all the wrong kind, you are not alone. I too have had my fair share of losers. I don’t know what it is but I seem to be a jerk and loser magnet. I’ve had more dead end relationships than I care to count. I’ve been thoroughly disappointed by men that I almost gave up on dating.

I’ve met guys that were liars. I’ve met guys that were in their late 30’s still living at home. And I’ve met guys that were unemployed and unmotivated pot heads. Some of these guys could have had great potential too. They just chose not to. They rather waste their lives without any goals. There were so many times that I stupidly helped financially support them.  I don’t mind picking up the tab once in a while but I don’t want to be responsible for buying gas or cigarettes.

What caused me to meet so many losers? I think I have finally started to figure it out. I have always been an insecure person. Maybe subconsciously I felt I didn’t deserve better. Plus I think how you interact with your own family tells a lot about how you will be in a relationship. If your mate had a bad relationship with his mother or other family members, odds are he’ll be disrespectful to you.  Let’s face it our parents are the first people to teach us how to treat people and act appropriately. If they don’t do a good job poor characteristics show in us as adults.

Another key factor in dating someone decent is where you originally meet. If all you do is hang out at bars and clubs, you most likely won’t find your soul mate. Many times I’ve met guys at bars. I didn’t think anything of it because I was there and I’m not a loser. But then when I got to know the person, I come to find out they spend 5 out of 7 days at the bar. If you meet someone form a friend or coworker you have better chances of meeting someone who is goal oriented and will treat you right.

You should also follow your head and not always your heart. Sometimes we think we’re attracted to someone when we know we should not get involved. There may be warning signs Knowing when to listen to your head is important.

The best thing you can do to avoid meeting jerks is to be physically, mentally and emotionally strong yourself.  We need to take care of ourselves first. As long as you know who you are, what your values are and what you want out of life, you will be strong enough in yourself. If you have any current issues, take care of them. See a therapist if you need to. Bringing any baggage into a relationship will only make matters worse and attract all the wrong people. Look for guys that are respectful, hard working and goal oriented.  If you are strong and confident you will stop meeting jerks.
